"Aletta de Wal is a hands on art professional who is amiable, knowledgeable and, most importantly, effective. As Artist Advisor at Artist Career Training, she is expert at finding the most useful resources for artists as they pursue their goal to make a better living making art. Aletta is exceptionally knowledgeable about artists' careers and the methods and materials they use to create art. I am a graduate of the Artist Career Training program, and now, featured speaker and member of the A.C.T. virtual faculty. I recommend both Aletta and her innovative instructional program highly, including her one-on-one consulting services, library, newsletter and tele-classes taught by nationally recognized art world experts. Aletta teaches more than business skills to artists, she gives artists the confidence to move forward in their art careers, and become more successful .”

“Aletta de Wal is an artist’s best friend. I began working with her as an affiliate as a result of my books; 'Pricing Your Artwork With Confidence' and 'Creatively Unblocking Creative Blocks', which she promotes through Artist Career Training. I have since worked with her on developing tele-classes and other materials. Besides being a joy to work with, I am beyond impressed by her dedication, expertise and professionalism regarding the rights and responsibilities of visual artists in regards to their own careers. By doing the work she does, and by chipping away at set-in-stone stereotypes, she raises the bar significantly for both artists and the artworld. I highly recommend Aletta and A.C.T. for artists who need a boost in their career, and also for other art world professionals who need to know how it is to work professonally with artists.”

“In terms of rating this Jump Start session on a scale of one to ten, I give you a ten point six. You have been well prepared and exceptionally generous with your time. The talk was well organized and sequential in the way you walked through things. You answered my questions and gave me insights and a way of doing things. You used a lot of shorthand, knowing what I already knew, so you could just bridge to other things. This made it an extremely efficient consultation... The consultation was professionally done, yet it was a peer discussion; you were not lecturing to me, which I found helpful because it makes it even more conducive to listening carefully and taking pages of notes for follow-up actions.” ~ Hank Schuyler, Albuquerque, NM. Emerging Artist and Semi-retired Marketer
"Aletta shared lots of valuable information with me during our one-hour private coaching session. I would rate the session a 10! Thank you, Aletta." ~Emily Van Cleve, abstract painter, Santa Fe, N.M.

"I met Aletta through Artist Career Training in the first year of my fledgling art career. Having recently left the corporate life to pursue life as an artist, I found her ability to quickly grasp my concerns and provide me with the guidance I needed, uncanny. Through the years, Aletta has helped me maintain my focus while at the same time expanding my vision and my business. Her firm-yet-gentle coaching style was just what this nervous and determined artist needed. Aletta has been instrumental in helping me create a strong foundation upon which to build my success. Today she continues to offer her support, guidance, and encouragement." ~Patrice Federspiel, Painting the Essence of Living Aloha www.artofaloha.com
A One-to-One Coaching Experience
When you began the process what did you hope to achieve? I was looking for an impartial person with art experience to help me build a roadmap to grow my art business. I was feeling like I was just reacting to every new thing I was seeing. I thought that I wanted very detailed ways to market my work to galleries and online.
What have you achieved through this coaching process? I realized I’m not quite ready for a marketing blitz, that I still need to define my style and build inventory, create a track record through shows, and create my professional portfolio.
How has this changed your motivation to work on your art business? I was floundering because I didn’t know what to do first. I really feel like I have a well defined path to get me started in the right direction. The steps make sense to me and the pressure I was putting on myself has decreased considerably. I feel clearheaded instead of feeling so ADD. Jumping from one task to the next without completing anything.
What would you say to a friend who is considering this process? I spend a lot of time, energy and money investing in all the tools, materials and work space for my art but through this program I have learned it is equally important to invest in the business foundation that will support my art business for many years to come. I feel like I now have all 3 legs of my stool.
What would help you to continue to benefit from this process? I get your newsletters so it will keep you and this process in my head. Maybe an online or 15-20 minutes progress update consult would be helpful. Maybe 3 mos, 6 mos and/or 1 year. Continuing to get invites to online workshops or Q&A’s on certain topics are wonderful. The mastermind group interests me but maybe in 5-6 months from now.
Thanks so much Aletta, you’ve helped me bring back the excitement and I feel more productive already. I was feeling really bogged down by so much going on and no clear direction. I think the most important thing I have learned is that I need to schedule myself more realistically and set tasks for when I’m in my home studio so I get things accomplished in a reasonable amount of time. The whole process was very comfortable because it wasn’t overly complicated or work/step intensive. Karen Dixon, Glass artist www.kdixonglass.com
